PHIL EVERLY IS ON HIS WAY HOME

I presume you know Phil Everly is gone.

I confess I’m a little late on the Everly Brothers bandwagon. Of course their classic 50s hits are staples of every oldies station in America, but it was a long time before I actually started paying attention to what they were doing.

There was a lot more to them than teen-idol pop stars with awesome hair – listen to albums like Songs Our Daddy Taught Us or later-era Stories We Could Tell, and you’ll notice they were singing about the darker side of America, and making it sound beautiful.

Anyway, here’s a nice cut you won’t hear too much of on the TV tributes.
