The whole thing has this sort of "we have always been at war with Eurasia" feel to me. I'd like to feel happy about it, but I don't really trust that it means that people will stop dying, and it seems like all the wars in Iraq/Iran/Afghanistan just kind of keep overlapping and going on and on, regardless of whether one particular conflict is "over" or not. It seems like we've been at war with that general region most of my life.
