You've actually got three friends that I know of that are doing NaNoWriMo - def frog, myself and jadecat.
It's a crazy fun thing to do. You write 50,000 words in one month (November) and end the month winning by having written a novel. You also get a cool certificate that you won. It was crazy, fun and liberating when I did it last year.
