I HAD TOO MUCH TO DREAM LAST NIGHT: DISASTER MOVIE EDITION
Sometimes my dreams are directed by Irwin Allen.
Two recent examples:
1. Some ancient curse is invoked to destroy an entire city that was meant to be wiped out earlier by a catastrophe that was averted – kind of like the Final Destination films, but on an epic scale. I am with the bride and someone who is either a vampire or possessed by a demon (I’m not sure which),
and our only chance to survive is to team up with him and form a protective circle by holding hands as the town is destroyed around us.
2. A winter cyclone strikes a resort hotel in the Florida Keys – it’s a hotel campus on its own island (built on an old oil rig platform, but bigger). We are in a room with picture-windows watching hurricane-force winds blow sleet against the glass. The room is cold and we didn’t pack any winter clothes because who expected this kind of weather in the Keys?
We are watching the news, and they are reporting another financial crisis – about a major financial firm collapsing, forcing dozens of big-name insurance companies out of business overnight. Downstairs in the ballrooms, people are holding emergency seminars for guests, explaining which insurance companies have been impacted and what it means for any travel, accident and life insurance policies they may be relying on during their vacation.
Soon to be a major motion picture,
This is dF
