DEF XMAS PLAYLIST #9: AIN’T GONNA DRINK AND DRIVE NO MORE
What makes a classic Christmas tune? One factor is timelessness – no matter what generation you are, no matter how many decades later you hear it, it carries as much meaning today as it did when the song was first released.
Exhibit A: “Christmas In Jail” by The Youngsters [via YesButNoButYes].
In fact, this song is probably more relevant today than it was in 1956 when it first came out, because these days drunk driving is even less acceptable than it was 51 years ago. Or at least there’s more awareness that it’s a problem, though this may be because more people than ever get busted for it.
Which is probably Bush’s fault somehow.
Anyway, you can get a copy on the same comp as the Sonics tune I posted yesterday.
FUN FACT: In Phoenix AZ, if you get a DUI conviction they put you on a chain gang, dress you in pink, and make you bury dead alcoholics.
I’m not kidding.
