BLACK HOLE SUN

This morning’s big local news story in Hong Kong is, of course, the longest solar eclipse of the 21st century.

Solar Eclipse 2009

I didn’t see it, no. We only got a partial in HK. And it was over by the time I got up.

FUN FACT: I’ve never seen a solar or lunar eclipse. Wrong place, wrong time, bad weather, whatever. Sure, I could have woken up early to see this one. But I really needed the sleep, you see.

So I’ll watch it on TV as usual and wait for 2132.

Invisible sun,

This is dF

I have been lucky enough to see one solar eclipse (partial) and several lunar, the most recent being on a trip down to the farm. They are awe-inspiring and I am looking forward to a major solar that will be visible form the farm in about 10 years as I recall.

I was there, man.

I went to the island of Yakushima, south of Kyuushuu, to observe the total eclipse of the sun.

It was so fucking cloudy or rainy that I didn't see the sun all day. All it did was get really dark for about four minutes.
