YOUTUBE SURVIVOR SERIES #38: MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY

ITEM [via [personal profile] bedsitter23]: I-35 (the US interstate highway that runs from Laredo, TX to Duluth, MN) is believed by evangelical Christians to be the “Way Of Holiness” as prophesied in Isaiah 35.

They also believe it can cure homosexuality.

Pat Robertson has proof.

Not too much new there, granted. Still, it’s worth noting how when Americans dither and wring their hands over religious extremists plotting revolution, they mean Muslims, not fundamentalist Christians who use terms like “siege”, “invade” and “we want a holy nation” on cable TV.

Sure, maybe it's metaphor, but I wasn't aware fundamentalists did metaphors. And yeah, okay, at least they're not bombing anything (yet). Still, guess which group makes me more concerned about my personal safety?

That said, I must say it’s awesome to see so many Christians hanging out at strip clubs and gay bars. Because that conversion loophole swings both ways, you know.

Bend over I’ll drive,

This is dF

EDITED TO ADD [January 7]: [personal profile] drhoz kindly reports that James Stabile, the gay man in the video saved by the Purity Siege, was kicked out of his gay rehab program. Also turns out Stabile is the son of a church minister and a pathological liar with a bipolar disorder. What fun!
