I’LL DO ANYTHING TO FIGHT THE TERRORS (BUT I WON’T DO THAT)

ITEM: President Obama says he is seeking to block the release of photographs that depict American military personnel abusing captives in Iraq and Afghanistan, worrying that the images could “further inflame anti-American opinion.” (As opposed to covering up photographic evidence of said abuse.)

ITEM: President Obama is reviving military tribunals for Guantanamo Bay detainees and promising to make changes to the system that could jeopardize his timetable for closing the prison by January.

ITEM: President Obama refuses to intervene in the case of Dan Choi, who will be fired from the Marines because he's gay – even though Choi is also fluent in Arabic, a language that would be pretty handy in any of the three locations just mentioned in the first two items.

See what they did there?

Jon Stewart did.

DISCLAIMER:
I swear I don’t want to get in the habit of posting Daily Show clips whenever stuff like this happens, but honestly, he saves me so much work.

PRODUCTION NOTE:
Stewart doesn’t directly address the bit about tribunals, which came out after the other two. But it fits.

You can’t be gay and a cunning linguist,

This is dF
