HELLO GHOSTBUSTERS? RAY PARKER JR IS UNDER MY BED AND HE KEEPS SINGING – NO WAIT DON’T HANG UP!

Twenty-five years ago this week, this was the #1 song in America.

Hey kids! How many future senators can YOU spot in this video?

DISCLAIMER:
Although I used to have the Ghostbusters soundtrack on cassette, I’m a much bigger fan of the movie than I am of the theme song. And I would say the song has probably aged about as well as the 80s production values of the music video. (Neon was big in 1984. As were models in SFW lingerie.)

But Ghostbusters is one of the greatest films of the 20th century, so who am I to be critical?

BONUS TRACKS: In case yr wondering what Ray Parker Jr is up to these days, here you go.

Something strange in yr neighborhood,

This is dF

Completely unrelated, I am pondering doing a "Guilty Pleasures" and/or "Songs they never play on the radio anymore" week.

Also, I want to go on record, I will take this song over Katy Perry's "Waking up in Vegas" ten out of ten times.

Funnily enough, I entertained the idea of a Guilty Pleasures series. But I think I'm old enough where I don't feel that guilty about songs I like anymore. That said, my Eurodisco series may be the same thing under another name.

As for Katy Perry, well, let's just say (1) I thought some of her songs were actually by Kelly Clarkson and (2) there's nothing wrong with her songs that a Ukrainian band with accordians can't fix.

I remember laying out on patio on a silver reflective mat listening to that song. No SPF for me, thank you. I think me and my friends in high school saw GB at least three times when it came out. No Internets and no mobiles and no Xbox way back then to occupy ourselves.

Ah, Night Ranger. God I hated them. Still do. :)
