Meanwhile, this is how we follow the US POTUS election in Hong Kong:

SUBWAY ELECTION CENTER, The US POTUS election: full coverage in the Central MTR station, Hong Kong, October 2012

That’s in Central Station on the MTR (a.k.a. the subway).

Obviously it’s a marketing gimmick from CNN and the two major cable-TV providers here. But it’s also likely to get eyeballs, as the election results will start coming in on our Wednesday morning. Sure, most people who are interested will just use their smartphones or iPads.

Still, I always find it interesting to see how US elections get covered overseas. As I’ve mentioned before, it’s a very big deal when the self-proclaimed Leader Of The Free World chooses its captain, because it does have an impact on everyone else at some level.

Most Americans, I expect, don’t fully appreciate this. But imagine yr economic trade situation, or regional political stability, being dependent on the outcome of, say, who becomes the prime minister of the UK. Or president of China. And having basically no say in the matter.

Well, that’s how a lot of non-Americans feel about POTUS.

FUN FACT: For the record, according to the BBC, if the world DID have a say in this election, Obama would win.

I’m just saying.

Certain people, of course, are smirking over the fact that Obama is the most popular in France (and we all know what they’re like).

But that’s okay, since according to the Beeb, Romney’s biggest overseas fan base is in Kenya.

BOOM!

Full coverage,
