The good news for liberals – and possibly America – is that statistically, his chances of getting the GOP nomination are pretty close to zero.

Which I’m sure will come as a surprise to my hardcore Tea Party friends who not only love Cruz, but also seem convinced he represents the American majority, or at least the conservative American majority fighting against the RINOs of the party.

Ha ha. No.

Even if they were, as Five Thirty Eight points out, Ted has two distinct problems: (1) he’s too extreme to appeal to anyone outside of his small extreme ultraconservative base, and (2) even other ultraconservatives don’t like him much.

Here's one way of looking at it: when you make yr announcement at a university event where not showing up at said event results in a $10 fine, it's not exactly a convincing start.

That’s not to say some people wouldn’t love to see Cruz get the nomination. They even have a suggestion for the perfect running mate.

You could even reverse the name order if you want to.

Otherwise, yeah, the only thing Cruz is going to bring to the 2016 race is memebait and unintentional comic relief – at least until Ben Carson makes up his mind.

Cruz control,

This is dF
