And yet the frightening thing is that it’s completely believable in 21st Century America. By what may be no coincidence, I recently bought a copy of Shopping For God, which postulates that one reason American Christianity has become so in-yr-face is because church leaders have figured out how to market and brand themselves. I haven’t read it yet, but when you look at people like Rick Warren and the fact that we actually things called megachurches, it doesn’t sound too far-fetched.
Which just goes to show that Bill Hicks was indeed a prophet.
