I’ve no idea how much (if any) coverage this is getting in yr community (what with the Tiger Woods Crisis and all), but I’m posting it anyway:

ITEM: Swiss voters say “yes” to a ban on the building of minarets in Switzerland.

There are only four (4) minarets now. Why ban building more?

The proposal had been put forward by the Swiss People's Party, (SVP), the largest party in parliament, which says minarets are a sign of Islamisation.

Supporters of a ban claimed that allowing minarets would represent the growth of an ideology and a legal system - Sharia law - which are incompatible with Swiss democracy.
