They say the best things in life are free. Unfortunately, none of them are essential to getting by in the modern world. Whoever coined that line was either living off a trust fund, or didn’t put a whole lot of thought into it.
John Lee Hooker knew the deal.
PRODUCTION NOTE: In case yr wondering, the lyrics are in fact almost identical to “Money (That’s What I Want)” by Barrett Strong. But they’re technically two different songs – Hooker gets full songwriting credit for “I Need Some Money” while Berry Gordy and Janie Bradford are the credited songwriters for “Money (That’s What I Want)”. Since Hooker was playing his version years before Barrett Strong’s version came out, an argument could be made that Gordy and Bradford ripped off Hooker’s lyrics. But as far as I know it never went to court.
What it don’t get I can’t use,
This is dF
