I’m behind in my new music posts (although, you know, you get what you pay for), and I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that Dengue Fever have a new album out.

Dengue Fever, if you don’t know, take their inspiration from classic Cambodian pop-rock. They hooked me with their previous album, and the latest one, Cannibal Courtship, is in many ways even better, with stronger songs this time around, including the single, “Cement Slippers”. Their humor remains intact as well – it’s hard to beat a line like, “My girlfriend likes everything about the beach except the sun, the surf and the sand.”

Listen.

Meanwhile, if you dig that, there’s the other Cambodian Rock Revival Band With An Authentic Cambodian Female Singer: Cambodian Space Project, whose debut album is out now. And while Dengue Fever is more focused on the surf/psychedelic side of Cambodian rock and write most of their own songs, Cambodian Space Project leans more towards the garage-party side, and do more covers.

There’s nothing available from the new album on the Interweb yet, but listen to this track from an EP they put out late last year.

Here comes the water,
