It might look like this.

Okay, not really.

But that was more or less the premise – two androids have a flying saucer that, like the TARDIS, can travel in time as well as space. They pick up a couple of Earthling kids for a joy ride, lose control of the saucer and go whipping back and forth to different periods of Earth’s history as they try to get the kids back home.

Hey, it’s from the Krofft brothers.

I remember liking it at the time. Of course, I was also in 5th grade, so I was pretty undemanding as a viewer.

Gotta go back in time,

Yr Police Oversight Fail lede of the day:

Ars Technica explains the tech:

The antennas, which are mounted onto individual patrol cars, receive recorded audio captured from an officer’s belt-worn transmitter. The transmitter is designed to capture an officer’s voice and transmit the recording to the car itself for storage. The voice recorders are part of a video camera system that is mounted in a front-facing camera on the patrol car. Both elements are activated any time the car’s emergency lights and sirens are turned on, but they can also be activated manually.

So evidently, some LAPD cops have been removing the antennas to avoid being monitored all the time. (Either that or punk kids have been stealing antennas from cop cars – neither headline looks good.)

To be fair, if it’s the former, the cops have a good reason for that:

“No one likes it. Who wants to be followed all over the place?” said one officer who spoke anonymously to the Boston Globe …

Well, exactly.

Car 54 where are you,
