APRIL IS FOR FOOLS
Apr. 1st, 2022 10:02 pmI do not recognize the authority of April Fool’s Day. At least, not anymore. Maybe it’s because I’m older, but practical jokes seem more mean than funny to me now – there are exceptions, of course, and a lot depends on the execution and the result, but these days when everyone seems generally angrier and put upon, it seems kinda jerky to punk someone for a cheap laugh.
Similarly, in these days of disinformation and mainstream conspiracy theories, posting fake satire online just kind of ends up feeding the beast – so much so that posting it on April 1 is no guarantee that people will assume it’s a joke.
This is the world we live in now.
Anyway, as I say, April Fool’s Day isn’t much fun – at least if you rely on the old standby of practical jokes and fake news stories. But it can still be a day to celebrate humor. Or make a playlist.
Which, inevitably, I did.
Actually, I made two.
The first one is pretty straightforward.
The second one was designed for a Facebook music group as well as Twitter. It works there because you can’t see the songs until you click the link. Which is why it doesn’t work as well here, although I could hide it behind a cut, but the fact that I’m hiding it is probably a giveaway that’s something up, and jokes don’t work when you telegraph their arrival (kids, ask your grandparents what a telegraph is).
Anyway, I’m sharing it here in case you ever need a whole bunch of cover versions of “Never Gonna Give You Up”.
That’s how I rickroll,
This is dF
