ALIEN SEX FOR CHRISTIANS
Dec. 30th, 2007 09:55 pmSo we went out this afternoon to collect freebies via various card membership loyalty programs, which eventually takes us to a Christian bookstore in a church in Prince Edward on Bute Street, whereupon I find this:

Which was, I’m sure you’ll understand, the last thing I expected to see.
It actually has an interesting theological premise – basically taking the theological idea that sexual desire is an alien force within us that brings us closer to God (the whole “sacred eroticism” trip) and looking at films that reflect this – like 2001, A Clockwork Orange, The Man Who Fell To Earth and – of course – the Alien films.
Not, oddly, Barbarella. Which is odd. Surely there’s an ecclesiastical metaphor for the Excessive Machine.
Anyway, there’s a naughty story idea in there somewhere. And I shall not rest until I find it.
DISCLAIMER: I didn’t actually buy the book. US$43.50 is kind of pricey for a paperback.
PRODUCTION NOTE: Not to be confused, naturally, with the anthology edited by Harlan Ellison. Nor the one edited by Ellen Datlow. Nor the Goth band with Mr and Mrs Fiend.
I walk the line,
This is dF
