As I mentioned before, the objective of the Def Xmas playlist is to give you an alternative to the same old Christmas tunes, and there are plenty of songs to choose from. But you can see why some of them – even when they’re good – aren’t that popular during the holidays.
Like, say, a song about a guy who dies on Christmas Eve and then haunts his girlfriend only to find her celebrating and sleeping with another guy.
Not exactly holly jolly fa-la-la-la-la, is it? Well, neither was Dickens, and A Christmas Carol is a timeless traditional classic.
Anyway, that’s what you get when a glam rock band from Finland decides to write a Christmas song. And seasonal or not, I’m a fan of Hanoi Rocks, and “Dead By Xmas” is one of their better B-sides. And no one else is gonna play it.
So here you go.
Admittedly not for everyone. Don’t worry, I’ll lighten things up tomorrow.
Ghost of Christmas Future,
This is dF
