I can’t say I’m surprised, or disappointed. Quite the opposite, actually – it’s a great showcase of how advanced this kind of studio trickery has become.
Forty years ago this kind of thing was done with rear projection, matte paintings and generic sets. Now it’s done with green screens and computers. It’s been said that the best special effects are the ones you don’t notice. This is a good example of that axiom.
