Whilst looking for Dennis Hopper clips for my earlier obit, I came across this scene from Easy Rider in which George Hanson (Jack Nicholson) attributes the decline of America to fear of the true individual freedom that Billy and Captain America represent.
Watching it now, I think Hopper, Fonda and Southern really nailed it, with the caveat that I don't think applies to everyone, just a particular segment of the population.
And 41 years later, it’s still essentially true.
