ITEM: At its TechEd conference in Australia’s Gold Coast, Microsoft gets slammed by delegates and its own employees for hiring local meter maids as a promotional stunt for the opening reception.
The “meter maids” turned out to be the Surfer’s Paradise Meter Maids, who look like this.

Microsoft officials claim they had no idea the Meter Maids were actually bikini babes, even though they’ve been a Gold Coast institution since the 1960s.
Also, head Meter Maid Roberta Aitchison says Microsoft’s events team was well aware of the Meter Maid dress code, seeing as how they chose them.
So, yes, nice try, Microsoft.

"The garments were chosen specifically by them over a period of 2-3 weeks of them looking at photographs of the girls," she said.
"They came back to me by email stating which garments they would like the girls to be wearing."
