As I mentioned in Episode 4, I don’t remember exactly what was the first 45 I bought with my own money. I’ve narrowed it down to three (3) possibilities. “Jackie Blue” by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils is one. “Dynomite” by Tony Camillo’s Bazuka.
The third possibility is “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” by Blue Oyster Cult.
That made a big impression on my 10-year-old self – the ghostly hook, the creepy yet oddly soothing lyrics. Made me a BOC fan for life.
The B-side sealed the deal. I will play it for you now.
