LISTEN TO IT #18: NO EXPERT? NO PROBLEM
Sep. 16th, 2010 11:05 amApropos of the previous post, now is as good a time as any to post this song from the new Laurie Anderson album about how “experts” are always telling us what problems to worry about and what not to worry about – regardless of how the problem actually affects us, and regardless of whether the solution solves the problem, and regardless of whether the problem exists in the first place.
While we’re at it, I recommend the new album, Homeland – at least if yr already a fan of Anderson’s arty music and wry satire. I doubt it will win over anyone who doesn’t like or get what she’s done up to now. But I’ve been a fan since “O Superman”, and Anderson was the first person to hip me to William Burroughs. Respect.
And Homeland is a pretty hypnotic and sometimes funny experience.
Trust me. I’m an expert.
Home of the brave,
This is dF
