I mentioned in my Best of 2010 round-up that for all my talk about “new” music, I’ve reached a point where the best music I hear these days seems to come either from bands who have been around for 30 years or more, or who borrow heavily from those bands.
The Lords of Altamont are a little of both. Lead singer Jake “The Preacher” Cavaliere has been around since the early 90s (you may remember his band The Bomboras on Rob Zombie’s imprint label), and drummer Harry Drumdini replaced Nick Knox in The Cramps around the same time.
But they trade heavily in 60s psychedelic garage rock. And they have the go-go dancers to prove it.
