A colleague at work turned me on to A Place To Bury Strangers sometime last year, and while Jesus & Mary Chain or My Bloody Valentine are easy reference points, APBS manages to craft their own version of feedback-drenched rock with just the right amount of menace.
On the downside, their weakness is that the tunes sound great when you listen to them, but don’t stick right away.
Such is the case with their third album, Worship, which is out now. I liked listening to it, but it may take a few repeat listens for me to really get into it. Which isn’t always a good sign, but it’s not a dealbreaker, either.
Anyway, the hit single is about a guy who crashes his motorbike and thinks about the girl he left behind and realizes at that instant that she was his true love.
How rock’n’roll is that?
Here it is – complete with creepy (and NSFW) video done up as a B-movie.
Speed kills,
This is dF
