The Hives are still around, and still snappy dressers, and still trading in hyperkinetic garage rock. And they’ve got a new album out.
And for the first time, I’m not really feeling it.
They still sound great, but songwise, there’s no real knockout punch, nothing on the level of any previous album you can name. It’s not bad at all, but there’s nothing really life-changing or even head-turning here.
Here’s the single as performed on Jools Holland, which if nothing else demonstrates that The Hives are still one of the best live bands around.
