At last! The new Thermals album will be out next month.
As you may know, I’m a big fan of The Thermals (thanks to
bedsitter23 , who hipped me to them – holy crap has been seven years now?). They’re possibly the last of the great power-pop bands, thanks in no small part to leader Hutch Harris, who has much to say and sings it like his life depends on it.
That said, I was a little disappointed with their previous album, Personal Life, which indeed get personal, and while Harris & Co can make even relationship songs sound important, it’s not quite the same when they’re singing songs about theocracies and evolution.
Anyway, if the lead-off single and the track list is anything to go by, Harris has now directed his energy on the topic of violence. The results are glorious.
Listen.
I’m looking forward to hearing the rest of it.
Unafraid to spill blood on the land,
This is dF
