DEÄTHMÜFFIN UPDATE: HOT STUFF!

As you can imagine, it’s been a busy time for Banäna Deäthmüffins – so busy that we haven’t had time to record any actual music. But that seems to be fine with our fans, and as you know, it’s all about the fans.
Anyway, one question we get asked a lot is, “Do you guys do cover songs? You know, as opposed to yr own songs?”
The answer is, of course, yes we do. And when we do covers, one of the first things we consider is, how should we go about it? Do we play it straight and faithful, or do we deconstruct it into an all-new interpretation?
For example, a favorite song of the band is Donna Summer’s “Hot Stuff”. And while there are many ways to approach that song, we decided the best approach for the studio was to make it something that’s fun to play in the rehearsal room.
Which, in this case, means heavy downtuned riffs, lots of flange and a vocal style often associated with drunk karaoke office parties.
We’re rather pleased with the results.
But then we would be, wouldn't we?
