I don’t care.
Seriously. I do not care about the VMAs, who won, or what anyone did onstage during them.
MTV doesn’t even show music videos anymore, really, so I don’t know what makes them any kind of authority about which ones are good or bad.
As far as I can tell, it does seem to serve two basic purposes:
1. Flamebait to give outraged parents and America’s moral guardians something new to complain about vis a vis the terrible, terrible state of degenerate popular culture.
2. A stark illustration of America’s double standards and priorities when it comes to knowledge of current events and media coverage therein. Most Americans can’t get to grips on the top sociopolitical issues of the day (Syria, climate change, healthcare, job creation, presidential vacation records, etc) unless its summed up in a Facebook meme, but What Miley Cyrus Did At The VMAs warrants 24/7 coverage and thousands of editorials analyzing every possible aspect.
Not that Point 2 is intentional on MTV’s part. But even The Onion understands all too well why CNN made Miley its top story of the day.
I can’t add anything to that.
Except maybe this.
MTV get off the air,
This is dF
