It’s International Women’s Day.

It’s also Women’s History Month in the US.

You’ll need a playlist. And there are plenty out there to choose from, but here’s my modest contribution.

METHODOLOGY: I had four main criteria: (1) female artists only, (2) include artists from other countries besides the US/UK, and (3) avoid too many obvious choices. On a related note, I made a little extra effort to vary the music genres, because believe me, it’s easy to fill up a two-hour IWD playlist with nothing but hip-hop and/or 90s riot-grrrl bands without breaking a sweat.

PRODUCTION NOTE: I kept it to two hours because let’s be honest, people don’t really listen to these things longer than that (if that). And in any case, the original pool of candidates I collected for this adds up to over eight (8) hours of music. So, if it seems like I left out any artist/song you think should be on here, I feel you and I agree, and I welcome suggestions/requests for the next list.

Well I don't know why it's not showing up here – I haven't monkeyed around with any of the settings – but it seems DW hasn't been crossposting my stuff to LJ for quite some time now. I had it set up to do it automatically but now even if I manually click the box it won't crosspost to LJ. Most curious.

Yeah, there is no LJ—DW link anymore, and that ended a while ago. If I weren't a lifetime member, I would have ended LJ a long time ago, too.

Hmmmm, just read that LJ is blocking people from exporting their content to DW as well. The honeymoon is over, I guess.

Maybe as well, rumor has it LJ may go dark if/when Russia's internet gets cut off. I only keep it for similar reasons as you, plus it does me no harm by sitting there curating my tweets.

I keep it mainly because I bought a Lifetime subscription many years ago and I can't see it going to waste. But yeah, similar reasons.
