Cross-posting from [profile] thewhyfive again. This week’s mission: Top 5 Ways To Treat/Pamper Yrself!

This was tricky, since I don’t really do much treating/pampering for myself, or at least that’s not how I would describe the stuff I like to do in my spare time. So as usual, I fine-tuned the criteria, though the final entries are a little too typical. But we are all creatures of good taste here on the Interwubs, so why not?

TOP FIVE DEF LEISURE ACTIVITIES WHEN FROG HAS SOME RARE FREE TIME

1. CD/book hunting
Sometimes it’s just necessary to spend two hours in a CD store or bookshop going through the racks and stacks just to see what’s there on the off-chance of finding a lost gem. Like that old Kinks album you always wanted, zum Beispiel.

2. Sleep in
Seeing as how I only get 4-5 hours sleep a night.

3. Bourbon
Sometimes it’s just necessary to ... oh, YOU know ...

4. Driving at random
Not that I ever get to do this (Hong Kong traffic isn’t conducive to leisure driving), but when I lived in the US, I used to take a cue from Talking Heads (“And you may ask yrself, ‘Where does that highway go to?’”) and just drive. Preferably around midnight. With the Butthole Surfers or Danzig blasting at full volume. Yes. That’s the stuff.

5. Bodyslide massage (with a  two “masseuse” minimum)
Not that I’ve ever EVER done this, or would even know where to get one in HK within my budget. But it’d be a treat, all right.

Here’s something you don’t see every day:

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Found this in my inbox this morning. And to think this is Start From Scratch’s SECOND concert of the year. The first one is this Friday, where King Ly Chee will also release their new EP.

I probably won’t go, as Cookie Monster Metal isn’t really the particular brand of metal that I prescribe for my own unique metal fever, though Horse The Band has a great gimmick with its 8-bit Nintendocore keyboards. Anyway, the shows are being held on the ferry pier next to the one I use to catch my ride home to Disco Bay, so I’ll probably hear some of it anyway.

Besides, it’s a rare thing to see the Hong Kong youth pick up electric guitars, play them loud and write their own songs. This should be encouraged by all means possible. Which is why I’m posting it here. You know, in case any of you happen to be in HK that evening.
