So Obama’s about to be sworn in as president – illegally, of course – and so Krispy Kreme says:

'Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. (NYSE: KKD) is honoring American's sense of pride and freedom of choice on Inauguration Day, by offering a free doughnut of choice to every customer on this historic day, Jan. 20. By doing so, participating Krispy Kreme stores nationwide are making an oath to tasty goodies -- just another reminder of how oh-so-sweet "free" can be.'

And so then Judie Brown, president of the American Life League, says:

"The next time you stare down a conveyor belt of slow-moving, hot, sugary glazed donuts at your local Krispy Kreme you just might be supporting President-elect Barack Obama's radical support for abortion on demand – including his sweeping promise to sign the Freedom of Choice Act as soon as he steps in the Oval Office, Jan. 20.

And so I says, “What?”

And then Judie points to that first Krispy Kreme paragraph and goes:

“Just an unfortunate choice of words? For the sake of our Wednesday morning doughnut runs, we hope so.  The unfortunate reality of a post Roe v. Wade America is that "choice" is synonymous with abortion access and celebration of 'freedom of choice' is a tacit endorsement of abortion rights on demand.”

See what she did there?

So anyway, I thought you should know: if you ever use the word “choice” in any context whatsoever, yr a radical babykilling terrorist.

The trailer for the live-action version of Dragon Ball is out.

I, for one, am not encouraged.

I’m a fan of both the manga and the anime, so a live-action version was always going to have a lot to live up to. And we’ve talked before about how movie versions of comics can only stay so true to the original source, and that this is not always a bad thing.

That said, Dragon Ball is one of those comics where the art is inseparable from the story, and doesn’t translate well to photorealism. Which is why the film so far looks more like a Dragon Ball rip-off than an authorized version. Maybe it’s unfair to judge by the trailer, but it looks like yr average super-powered kung-fu film to me – which might still be fine for people who have never seen the manga or the anime, but for people like me, it’s going to be a harder sell.

Unless they keep all the bits where Bulma shows off her panties, of course. Then I’ll give it a try. Because her panties are central to the storyline.

Here, I’ll prove it to you.

See?

However, I suspect that’s not going to fly in America for a film that will be shooting for a maximum PG-13 rating.

Hide it all away.

Liveblogging from the corner bed at the Cafe Duvet. Nearby, a chow chow makes a withdrawal. Either that, or this Irish coffee is stronger than I thought...
