One of the fun things about mashup culture is re-imagining pop culture characters in new ways. The Watchmen are getting the treatment at the moment, and you’ve all probably seen the Watchmen redone as
Peanuts characters and
Saturday morning cartoons.
In accordance with Rule 34, sometimes they’re sexed up. Usually it’s eye-searingly awful (trust me, watching Peter and Lois Griffin from
Family Guy having hardcore sex is one of those things that cannot be unseen, no matter how good the art is), but sometimes it’s great. Curt Rapala mixing
Sin City with Disney characters (which I’ve posted
before) is one example.
Here’s another [via
rcubedagain]: Betty Rubble remixed by
Glenn Barr.

I’m impressed. But then I like Glenn Barr. There’s a seedy desperation to his
work that appeals to me, but with enough of a sense of humor to keep it from being too grim.
“Jesus Tour” is a fine example. [And NSFW, so watch yr ass.]
Probably not for everyone.
