I SEE GOOD SPIRITS, I SEE PINK SPIRITS
Feb. 11th, 2010 10:15 amYr Big Fear lede of the day is:

"There's a spiritual reality to it and Hasbro is treating it as if it's just a game," said Stephen Phelan, communications director for Human Life International, which bills itself as the largest international pro-life organization and missionary worldwide. "It's not Monopoly. It really is a dangerous spiritual game and for [Hasbro] to treat it as just another game is quite dishonest."
Science says otherwise. So do Penn & Teller, come to that. And I tend to favor Science and sarcastic illusion experts over Ignorant Superstitious Fear whenever possible. So there you go.
Not that I’m saying ghosts don’t exist, or trying to take the fun out of Ouija boards. They're a great source of urban legends, and their popularity speaks volumes about our sense of adventure, fascination and dread of the afterlife, and an almost willing gullibility when it comes to the Unknown. Which, in a way, makes Ouija boards one of the most significant pop-culture inventions of the last 150 years.
Doesn’t mean you can talk to Fred Mertz’s ghost with ‘em, though, much less be possessed by him.
Code pink,
