The response to this meme has not been particularly gratifying, but I know I posted it at a weird time slot and the vast time differences might have buried it on various friends pages, etc. And yr all busy and productive people with lives, of course.

So I'm reposting it to give the audience one last shot before I post the answer.

By order of [livejournal.com profile] puffdoggydaddy , it’s time to play:

3 Lies and a Truth

INSTRUCTIONS: Pick the one you think is true and put yr answer in the comments. If you get it right, I'll respond to you via the LJ inbox probably repost this with the correct answers.

Here we go.

1. I once made sweet love in the front seat of a Cadillac whilst watching Tarantino's Pulp Fiction at a drive-in movie theatre.

2. I made it to the quarterfinals of the Austin Peay State University Foosball Championship of 1991.

3. I have attended a Space Shuttle launch (not inside the control room, but at the NASA causeway).

4.
Whilst on a press trip sponsored by a company, the PR person for said company hired a prostitute to come to my hotel room for “entertainment purposes”.

Would I lie to you,

Or perhaps not.

Anyway, following on from this post, I was able to take a few more pictures for you during last week’s mission to Singapore.

And here they are.

Photobucket

Yes, I know. TOTALLY worth the wait.

Anyway, 75% of those were taken around Bencoolen Street. That’s the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple and the Sri Krishnan Hindu Temple, which are next to each other, and a nearby temporary statue of Qu Yuan for the Duanwu Festival.

The Qu Yuan statue is noteworthy for the fact that I passed it every night on the way to the hotel from the train station, and every night he was facing a different direction. I’m sure there’s a reason for it.

And the bloke in the football uniform? No idea who he is, but he was overseeing the consumption of alcohol in Clarke Quay.

There are a few more pics behind that pic, if yr interested.

And so much for Singapore. No more traveling for awhile, as far as I know.

Ain’t no home for me,

Concluding the “Five Songs That Start With The Letter R” meme assigned by [livejournal.com profile] ayoub  ...

We wrap up with the first song I actually thought of for this series, but I thought it was a more suitable closer: possibly the greatest song Bob Marley ever wrote.

Which is saying something.

This meme is now closed.

Help me sing these songs of freedom,

The Hong Kong govt gave itself another hit of democracy today, with LegCo approving The Donald’s Democracy Upgrade 3.0 reform package 46-12.

As always, the backstory is complicated as hell to explain, but The Wall Street Journal (of all things) has a pretty good summary of the situation and what was at stake.

And blah blah blah and gibbity gibbity gibbity ... )

Anyway, as is the way in modern politics, the whole exercise was noisy and pointless and probably won’t make a scrap of difference.

On the other hand, we found a use for the vuvuzelas they were selling at McDonald’s.

Meanwhile, the next big dust-up will be over the functional constituency seats, which the pan-democrats would still like to see scrapped altogether, says Audrey Eu:

"There is no reason our political system should protect the powerful, the rich, people with connections, people with influence and people with resources.”

Because look how well that works in real democracies like the USA.

All right, I’ll stop now.

Bedtime for democracy,
