I get press releases.

Sometimes they’re comically frightening.

The best part – aside from the name of the company – is this:

Polygraph and computerized lie detection equipment has become extremely sophisticated in recent years with the level of accuracy nearing 100%. "The over-the-phone technology we use is incredible; we can tell if someone is fibbing or being completely honest," says Amanda.

The Truth Texas offers phone lie detection for about $75 for a 45-minute phone interview with an emailed report within 24 hours. "It's cheap really if you think about the peace of mind you will have after," added Amanda.

There are some, of course, who will tell you that polygraphs are unscientific and inaccurate. They’re lying, of course. Ask anyone who sells polygraph services. They have tons of studies proving it works.

Anyway, I figure that when yr at a stage where yr in need of a $75 over-the-phone polygraph service, you’ve got bigger problems. Like paranoia.

You LIE,

From the July 1933 issue of Popular Science:

Part of me wishes this had caught on, or that I’d had one of these back when I lived in the US.

The other part, of course, suspects the reason it DIDN’T catch on was because it encouraged Jehovah’s Witnesses and traveling salesmen to knock louder.

As they do.

Dropping dimes,
