LISTEN TO IT #33: GONNA RIDE THIS BOMB UNTIL WE BOTH EXPLODE

I’m not sure how I managed to go for the last 20 years without knowing who The Bellrays were. Probably the usual mix of (1) having been in Hong Kong for 15 of those years, (2) distribution issues and (3) lack of radio airplay.

Anyway, they have in fact been around since 1991, and whatever they sounded like back then, on their new album Black Lightning they fulfill all the requirements for High Octane Rock, as well as some R&B-flavored numbers. The songwriting quality varies, but there’s no resisting the brilliant title track.
