We’re getting close to the end of 2011, and as usual I’m behind on new releases that have crossed my path this year.
Like the new Sons And Daughters album, which I’ve been listening to for the past few months, and have been digging a lot.
I’ve been impressed with S&D since their Johnny Cash EP, and this is the first time I’ve gone in with trepidation. The new album is pretty experimental sound-wise, with more mood, open spaces and noise compared to their previous stuff (which can be described as either angry folk-punk or angry indie-pop), and it took a little letting used to. But the second listen won me over and it’s probably going to make my Top Ten for the year.
