PHIL EVERLY IS ON HIS WAY HOME
Jan. 5th, 2014 11:13 amI presume you know Phil Everly is gone.
I confess I’m a little late on the Everly Brothers bandwagon. Of course their classic 50s hits are staples of every oldies station in America, but it was a long time before I actually started paying attention to what they were doing.
There was a lot more to them than teen-idol pop stars with awesome hair – listen to albums like Songs Our Daddy Taught Us or later-era Stories We Could Tell, and you’ll notice they were singing about the darker side of America, and making it sound beautiful.
Anyway, here’s a nice cut you won’t hear too much of on the TV tributes.
And here’s one of my favorite hit songs.
When the whistle blows my name,
This is dF
