THE KILLS: MORE CHEERFULNESS FOR YR DOLLAR

defrogIs it just me, or have The Kills gone art-disco-punk?
Cos that’s pretty catchy from a band I would have never described as “cheerful”. I’ve always sort of thought of them this way: if you take the guy/girl retro-rock duo model and map it to high school outlaw stereotypes, The Raveonettes were the kids who stole from mom’s purse for beer money and boosted dad’s car for joyrides, while The Kills were the kids who got expelled for assault & battery and spent their free time robbing liquor stores at gunpoint. Or at least wanted you to think so.
Musically, I dig The Raveonettes a little more. But VV and Hotel Kill definitely have the cooler stage names.
Anyway, looking forward to see what the rest of the album sounds like.
