Spotted on Neatorama: one of the great moments in professional wrestling, in which Cactus Jack and Terry Funk request a folding chair from the audience with which to smite The Public Enemy – and get about 40.
bedsitter23 or
garbagecanmusic probably know more background than me, but I think ECW used to do this gimmick quite a bit. I’ve seen it done one or two other times.
Now THAT’S entertainment.

on 2008-07-29 11:37 am (UTC)There is a ECW (yes on the sci-fi channel)which is run by the WWE, which shares a logo, Taz as announcer, and little else with the original. Essentially, it's the minor league for the WWE. You get to see up and comers wrestle in a developmental league. Not a bad thing, just not ECW.
The closest thing to what ECW was in the 90s is Ring of Honor. This is where the latest stars have come out - Samoa Joe and CM Punk among others. It's more geared at daredevil moves and actual wrestling instead of 'extreme' action like the old ecw. RoH is very vigilant at removing unatuthorized clips from YouTube. Instead they sell videos and they do host some preview clips there. What I have seen is pretty cool.
I guess while I am mentioning it, TNA is on for anyone who is nostalgic for WCW, or for those who forgot why WCW went out of business.
