VOTE LUCY LOU IN 2008
Aug. 29th, 2008 06:44 pmWhat with Barack Obama hogging the spotlight and McCain about to announce his veep, it’s probably worth reminding you of America’s other crucial election race that could determine the balance of power. A seat that was vacated in May after the incumbent died, and has yet to be filled. In fact, they’ve only found one candidate to run. And unless action is taken soon, the result is going to be a sweep that could take the nation by storm.
Yet typically, the mainstream media has virtually ignored it – unless you count Animal Planet. The questions that Ted Koppel, Brian Ross and John King refuse to ask remains unanswered. As such, this year’s best kept secret of the 2008 election season is set to take the American People™ completely by surprise.
Yes. A border collie named Lucy Lou is going to be the next mayor of Rabbit Hash, Kentucky.
Don’t laugh. She’ll be replacing a black labrador retriever named Junior Cochran.

Unless someone else enters the race, that is. So far no one has, though the rules declare ducks and geese ineligible to run, so that might be a factor.
You can follow the action at the official web site of the Rabbit Hash General Store. Voting will start this Sunday and continue to November 4. You have to pay to vote ($1 a shot), but all proceeds go to the Rabbit Hash Historical Society.
Why can’t all elections be like this? It’d be an improvement. Admit it.
I recommend poking around the Rabbit Hash USA site, BTW. I like the design. I also like that they give a history of the place but don't bother to explain the name. It's liek jazz, I guess. "If you have to ask," etc.
I also like the look of the Rabbit Hash General Store, which has been around in one form or another for over 175 years – and looks it. It makes the Dukes of Hazzard look like it was filmed on Manhattan Island.
You can take the boy out of the country, etc,
This is dF and I endorse this message
