defrogI’ve been listening to The Bird And The Bee’s new album, Ray Guns Are Not Just The Future. If yr not familiar with them (and they’ve been on the Jimmy Kimmel show, so how could you not be?), it’s the sort of faux retro bachelor-pad alt.pop music that you get from groups like St Etienne and Pizzicato 5, with a bit of the arched-eyebrow melancholy you get on the average Pet Shop Boys album.
Musically pleasant, but probably not for everyone.
On the other hand, I have to respect a faux retro bachelor-pad alt.pop that writes love songs about David Lee Roth, as well as a dance song that issues the usual dance-commander instructions (i.e. get on yr feet, wave yr hands in the air, clap yr hands), but asks very nicely.
The video for the latter is also slightly demented.
This could grow on me.
