ANNE FRANCIS ALSO STARS IN “HONEY WEST”
Apr. 6th, 2009 11:06 amWhile we’re at it, Anne Francis was also TV’s Honey West.

And now, the Honey West theme song!
The character started off in pulp detective novels and is regarded as one of the first kick-ass female detectives. Honey West was certainly the first female karate-chopping action hero on American TV. Oddly, according to legend, ABC canceled the show because they acquired the rights to broadcast The Avengers, and thought America wasn’t ready for two sexy karate-kicking women on TV.
By no coincidence, Aaron Spelling had modeled the TV version of Honey on Emma Peel. I also suspect that the Modesty Blaise comic strip (which started a couple of years earlier) may have been an influence.
Except for Bruce The Ocelot, of course.
A taste of Honey,
