BRINGING A GUN TO A SNOWBALL FIGHT

lorilori ]: A D.C. Police detective didn’t like it when kids pelted his Hummer with snowballs. So he stopped the car and pulled his gun out.

He didn’t shoot anyone.
I’m sure there’s going to be a little more to this story, and I’m sure a lot of people (many of them employed by the DC Police and/or Fox News) will be defending the man’s God-given right to protect his Hummer from punks with snowballs, because it’s in the Second Amendment, and 9/11 changed everything – I mean, what if those kids had been al Qaeda operatives hiding anthrax or plutonium in those snowballs? – and hey, I’ve always wanted to do that when some punk lobs a snowball at me, so really why are liberals making such a big issue of it? (Which is when Gretchen Carlson looks up the word “snowball” on Google to see if it means “Allahu Akbar” or something...)
All I can really add is that this is what you get in a society that trades on fear and loathing. I’d be annoyed too if people pelted my car with snowballs, but it’s not the kind of thing that warrants whipping a gun out. That’s just dumb fear.
Apart from that, it’s also an interesting example of citizen journalism in action. It doesn’t tell the whole story, but it adds eyewitness elements that you wouldn’t have gotten ten years ago (and I’m sure the cop isn’t the first person to bring a gun to a snowball fight – but he’s probably the first to have instant coverage).
Anyway, this is bound to be yr new favorite holiday meme. LOLpics and Flash games coming soon.
The snowball effect,
