ITEM [via [livejournal.com profile] nebris ]: ABC News finds subliminal Bible verses on guns used by the military to kill people who just happen to be non-Christians!

Trijicon refreshingly admits that yes, those are Bible codes. No surprise, seeing as how Point Five of their corporate values is “Morality”:

• Morality
We believe that America is great when its people are good. This goodness has been based on biblical standards throughout our history and we will strive to follow those morals.

Which makes sense, given all the wars in the Bible. And of course Jesus was a dab hand with a sniper rifle himself. (See Romans 23:17 if you don’t believe me.)

Whether having Scripture codes on yr rifle sight counts as proselytizing by force is debatable, if only because (1) whoever yr shooting won’t have time to read it and (2) at least half the guys using those guns probably couldn’t tell you what the verse on their gun actually says unless they looked it up.

On the other hand, it’s not as though everyone at the Pentagon is a secular humanist.

I’m just saying.

Shooting straight for Jesus,

This is dF

EDITED TO ADD [01.22.10]:
Trijicon now says it'll stop putting the codes on the sights, and will provide mod kits for customers to remove them.
