THE PATRIOT ACT IS FOREVER

defrogRepublicans and Democrats may not be able to get together on universal healthcare, but there’s one thing they agree on: the federal govt needs greater surveillance powers under the Patriot Act to protect you from that one-in-10 million chance of being killed by a terrorist.
Congress has approved extensions of the Patriot Act that were set to expire yesterday. Obama has cheerfully signed it. And so yr safer. Hooray!
Sure, the Patriot Act didn’t stop Mr SizzlePants or Joe Stack. And sure, the FBI has routinely abused its authority under the Patriot Act. But yr still alive, aren’t you? And isn’t that a small price to pay for giving the govt the power to spy on libraries, Planned Parenthood and other terrorist organizations?
I’m just saying.
