Archie Bronson Outfit’s second album Derdang Derdang made my Best of 2006 list with the trio’s mix of raw roots rock and nervous David-Byrne-like vocals. Four years later, they’re back with a new album and an updated sound that’s more polished.
Downside: they’ve lost some of that raw edge that made the previous alum sound urgent.
Upside: They’re a little more experimental musically, and Sam Windett’s vocals are more toned down, and thus less nerve-rattling. So it’s a tradeoff I’m prepared to accept.
Still, it's probably not for everyone.
To find out if it's for you, here’s a cut from the album that contains a revolving brain.
