And now, for Veterans Day, here’s Dennis Miller interviewing George Carlin in 1997 about his military days, in which Carlin makes a case in favor of war.
But in a funny way.
Also noteworthy for the fact that Miller’s views on warfare have changed considerably since this was aired. So maybe we can blame Carlin for changing his mind.
Well no, of course not. Carlin was talking about generally giving up on humanity and deciding that if we’re all just determined to kill each other, he might as well sit back and enjoy the show. Since 9/11, Miller has bought into the usual Big Fear and subscribed to the Whatever It Takes strategy to defend America from its Big Scary Invisible Enemies.
